Atlantic Future Forum
In October 2020, the UK Government hosted the third annual Atlantic Future Forum (AFF) to advance the special defense security, trade and technology partnership between the United Kingdom and the United States of America. Each year, the forum brings the brightest political, military, and business leaders on board the Royal Navy aircraft carrier HMS QUEEN ELIZABETH for the live event.
In response to COVID-19, the restrictions placed on international travel, and the need to socially distance, AFF’20 took the form of a two-day hybrid summit using Virtual Conference Manager by Opsgility.
A series of panel and keynote speeches were delivered both onboard the HMS QUEEN ELIZABETH and from remote locations such as The Pentagon. Due to the nature of the event, AFF required a solution that enabled secure broadcasts to a global audience, while protecting sensitive information shared by high-profile speakers like Boris Johnson (PM United Kingdom,) Mark Esper (US Secretary of Defense), and Brad Smith (President Microsoft.)
Virtual Conference Manager leveraged the power of Microsoft Teams to create an invite-only, many-to-many environment. For an added layer of security, each attendee was required to login using predefined credentials to access the forum. This allowed presenters to broadcast to attendees around the world while blocking security threats.
Several leading UK and US private sector companies support the AFF as strategic partners and work closely with the forum team. Strategic partners have helped to define the AFF, thus it was important to provide those partners a platform to share ideas and establish new customer relationships throughout the summit.
Virtual Conference Manager’s Expo Hall gave each strategic partner a virtual sponsor booth to engage members of the audience. Partners shared files, chatted with attendees, and hosted sessions directly from the booth. The interactive booths were a great way to connect with the audience while increasing brand awareness and generating leads.
Ultimately, the third annual Atlantic Future Forum was a smashing success despite challenges brought about by COVID-19. Both days of the hybrid summit were filled with interactive keynote speeches, networking events, and sponsor sessions all thanks to Virtual Conference Manager.
“Thank you both so so so much for all you have done in the lead up to and during the event. So patient, professional and just great to work with. Without your support we never would have achieved what we did in such a short space of time.”

“It was an absolute joy to work with you. Thank you for the million-and-one things you did to make the platform look amazing.”
